Did you:
- get your first Dental Assistant Practice Permit on December 1, 2019 or after?
- reinstate your Practice Permit on December 1, 2019 or after?
If you answered “yes” to either question, then you must complete our Patient Relations Learning Module* before you renew your Practice Permit this fall.
You’ll find the Patient Relations Learning Module in our Professional Practice Learning Centre (PPLC).
When you have successfully completed the Patient Relations Learning Module, you meet the requirement.
The Health Professions Act (HPA) requires that all regulated health professionals complete learning to help prevent and address sexual abuse and sexual misconduct toward patients by regulated members. Therefore, we developed our Patient Relations Learning Module so that dental assistants would have learning that applies to their practice.
We use our Patient Relations Learning Module to verify that you have met the HPA learning requirement. We check this at annual renewal time.
It will take several hours to complete the module – set some time aside before the renewal deadline.
*If you already completed the Patient Relations Learning Module, you don’t need to do it again. It is a one-time requirement.
