Council meets regularly to conduct governance business and make decisions related to the College’s public interest mandate. Meetings are generally a day and a half. Observers are welcome at regularly scheduled Council meetings.

Following each meeting, we share an update on our website about recent Council activities.

Observe a Council meeting

If you’d like to observe a Council meeting, please submit our request to observe Council meeting form. Please note that we may limit observers based on room capacity. We accommodate all requests on a first-come, first-served basis.

By submitting this request to attend the Council meeting as an observer, I acknowledge that I have read, understand and agree to abide by the expectations below.

Expectations

We provide a designated seating area for observers and a copy of the meeting agenda at the observer seats.


We do not permit recording of meeting proceedings. All electronic devices including, but not limited to, phones, tablets, notebooks and laptops must be turned off and stowed away.


You will remain quiet during the Council meeting, allowing Council to focus on Council business.


The Chair is the spokesperson for Council, therefore, individual Council Members will not comment to observers on meeting proceedings. If you want clarification, have comments or concerns, you may send them to the Chair in writing after the meeting.


We are not responsible for any costs or expenses you incur to attend Council meetings.

Make a submission to Council

If you’d like to bring a proposal or make a presentation to Council, please send a written request to chair@abrda.ca at least 30 days before the meeting date. Your request should include the topic, a brief summary of what you plan to present, and the outcome you’re seeking. We review all requests to ensure they align with Council’s governance role and meeting agenda.
