Committee Role
The Program Approval Committee:
- reviews dental assisting education principles and program approval policies and procedures
- recommends granting or removing approval status of Alberta-located dental assisting programs and courses
- monitors programs and courses for compliance with the dental assisting education principles and program approval policies
Committee Member Responsibilities
- maintain and respect confidentiality
- comply with and support the Program Approval Policies
- participate in committee meetings and training workshops
- communicate and collaborate with other committee members and College support staff
Committee Member Competencies
- an understanding of the College’s regulatory mandate and program approval role
- experience in educational methodology and recognizing best practices in adult learning
- effective communication and strategic thinking skills
- ability to make objective decisions
- experience in clinical setting
