What do roster members do?
The Hearings Director will appoint roster members to a Hearing Tribunal (HT) or Complaint Review Committee (CRC) when a:
- complaint is being settled through an Alternative Complaint Resolution process
- complainant requests a review of the Complaints Director’s decision to dismiss a complaint
- complaint is referred to a hearing
For a detailed description of the role of an HT or CRC, you can review GP4.5 and 4.6 in our Governance Policies.
Hearings and reviews may be conducted virtually (by videoconference) or in person.
What support will I receive?
To help you learn about the role, you will have access to:
- training workshops
- written and video resource material
- online courses
When you serve on an HT or CRC, you will be supported and guided throughout the process by independent legal counsel (ILC). ILC will provide legal advice on both procedural and substantive matters during the hearing or review to ensure the HT or CRC is effectively carrying out its role. Once the HT or CRC has made its decision, ILC will assist the HT or CRC with preparing their written decision.
