Return-to-Work Announcement

April 30, 2020

Today, Premier Jason Kenney announced that as part of Alberta’s relaunch strategy, all regulated health professionals may return to safe practice subject to guidelines approved by their respective regulatory colleges. As per Premier Kenney’s statement, you must not initiate a return to practice until we provide you with the approved guidelines for returning to practice.

Alberta Health has put the trust in the regulators to develop return-to-work guidelines. The Alberta oral health regulators are already working together to develop Alberta oral health return-to-work guidelines. These guidelines are currently under development and will be released as soon as they are available.

It’s important to note that those professionals that do not want to return to work, are not obligated to do so.

We recognize the importance of getting all oral health practitioners back to work in Alberta. Our return-to-work strategy will include facets of business operations, procedures performed and infection prevention and control.

In this rapidly shifting landscape, gathering information, and applying it in the context of oral health, is challenging. Our goal is to have Alberta oral health return-to-work guidelines ready and communicated to you as soon as possible.

Thank you for playing an important role in helping stop the spread of COVID-19 while continuing to provide emergency/essential oral health services.
