Council approved circulating proposed Bylaw changes for you to review. The proposed changes are to Bylaw 3. For reference, you can see our current Bylaws here.

Please use our feedback form to give us your feedback by July 15, 2022.

We will consider your feedback and, as appropriate, may recommend adjustments to Council.

Why are we making these changes?

In March, Council approved changing from election to a merit-based appointment process for filling Regulated Member positions on Council. Currently, our Bylaws describe the election process. In the proposed Bylaws, we replace election process information with the merit-based appointment process.

The proposed Bylaws describe:

  • the new Appointment Committee that will review applications and recommend eligible applicants to Council
  • when and how applications will be accepted
  • who is eligible to apply
  • the Appointment Committee’s role
  • Council’s responsibility to consider recommendations and decide whether/which applicants they will appoint

After the Bylaws are in place, we will add policies to further define and guide the process. They will include procedures, forms and rubrics to support a fair and transparent appointment process.
