In Alberta’s COVID-19 update on May 13th, the province noted that some restrictions remain in place for the cities of Calgary and Brooks. However, Stage 1 of the Relaunch for Calgary and Brooks allows for regulated health professions to provide services as of May 14.
Therefore, dental practices may reopen in Brooks and Calgary, at their discretion, provided they have proper measures in place. Dental assistants may return to work in these locations following the guidance of our COVID-19 Return to Non-essential Practice and the ADA&C’s Expectations and Pathway for Patient Care during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Workplaces must continue to apply Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements. Employers are required to provide a safe work environment and employees have a right to refuse dangerous work. Review the OHS legislation to ensure you understand your obligations when addressing dangerous work.
