Start the new year right: organize your professional records
The beginning of a new year is the perfect time for a fresh start—and that includes getting your professional records in order. If you’re a dental assistant, keeping your documents organized isn’t just a good habit—it’s essential for meeting requirements.
What should you keep?
Make sure you have your own copies of key documents related to your practice and registration, such as:
- continuing competence records
- professional liability insurance certificates
- completion certificates from the Professional Practice Learning Centre
- any other documentation tied to your professional requirements
Whether you prefer paper files or digital folders, having everything neatly organized will save you time and headaches when you need to access them.
Why it matters
Standard of Practice 12: Accountability requires dental assistants to provide information to the College promptly when requested. Keeping your records up to date and easy to find makes meeting this standard simple—and far less stressful.
A simple goal for the year
Set aside a little time to organize your files. It’s a small investment that pays off big when deadlines come around. You’ll appreciate the effort later.
