When an investigator contacts you
From time to time, dental assistants regulated under the Health Professions Act may be contacted by an investigator from another health profession regulatory college as part of routine information-gathering.
The investigator is contacting you as a witness to understand a concern better, confirm information, or hear from individuals who may have helpful context in a matter related to a regulated member of their college.
These conversations are a normal part of how health professions are regulated and are intended to support fair, careful, and respectful decision-making. Participating openly and promptly in these processes is an important professional responsibility and supports public confidence in regulated health professions.
What happens if I’m contacted?
The investigator will explain the reason for the contact and what information is being requested. You’ll have an opportunity to ask questions, and the process will be explained to you.
Can I have support during an interview?
Yes. You may have support with you, such as a colleague, advisor, or legal counsel. Just let the investigator know in advance so they can accommodate this.
Do I have to participate in the process?
Yes. You are regulated under the Health Professions Act and are expected to cooperate with inquiries, investigations, or discipline processes conducted by our College or another health profession regulatory college.
