Lifelong Learning Matters

Continuing to grow and learn helps dental assistants provide safe, skilled, patient-centred care—while staying confident, inspired, and connected to the important work they do. Our Continuing Competence Program (CCP) provides a structured approach that dental assistants can follow to identify their learning needs and reflect on the outcomes.

Assess Achieve Analyze are the three steps to effective continuing competence program participation. The first step is to assess which is illustrated by an apple to represent learning and a question mark. The second step is to achieve which is illustrated by an apple to represent learning and a check mark. The third step is to analyze which is illustrated by an apple to represent learning and a magnifying glass. The apples are set on a light gray background. The words Assess Achieve Analyze are bright blue. Each apple is bright blue with bright green leaves. Dark gray is used for the question mark, check mark and magnifying glass. There are green arrows that show the movement between the three steps.

As part of our Competence Program, we audit a portion of learning records every year. While the audit involves verifying that dental assistants are meeting the Competence Program expectations, our focus is on using the opportunity to support their understanding and enhance their participation.
