Apply for Dental Assisting Registration and Permit

If you want to practice as a dental assistant in Alberta, you must have Registration and a Practice Permit. You can apply if you meet any of the following:

Accredited Education

you completed a CDAC-accredited dental assisting program in Canada, and
hold the NDAEB Certificate

Non-Accredited Education

you completed a non-accredited dental assisting program, and
passed the NDAEB Written Exam, and
passed the NDAEB Clinical Practice Evaluation
hold the NDAEB Certificate

NDAEB In Progress (Provisional)

you are working on completing the NDAEB Written Exam and/or Clinical Practice Evaluation

Labour Mobility

you are a dental assistant in a Canadian province where dental assisting is regulated

CDAC – Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada
NDAEB – National Dental Assisting Examining Board
