Since our June 2026 update on Council activities, Council met once for their regular meeting in August. These are Council’s activities since our last update:
Adopted
- terms of reference for the Appointment Committee
- The Appointment Committee Terms of Reference define the Committee’s purpose, authority and structure. They also outline expectations and competencies of committee members and describe Committee function. The Committee assesses candidates against established criteria and competency requirements, and selects individuals for appointment to Council when there are vacancies to fill.

- the Registrar and CEO to respond to Honourable Justin Wright’s August 10, 2026, letter regarding optimizing professional practice in Alberta
Called for
- letters of intent for the Appointment Committee
- Council invited interested Council members to submit letters of intent to serve on the Appointment Committee for the 2026-27 term.

- priorities for 2026-29 Council recruitment
- Council considered existing strengths and identified areas where additional expertise or perspective would enhance overall effectiveness. Council also considered emerging issues, strategic priorities, environmental changes and the importance of maintaining a variety of backgrounds, experiences, practice settings, and perspectives when identifying recruitment needs.
