We are accepting applications from dental assistants who are interested in serving on the Hearing Tribunal and Complaint Review Committee Roster.

The roster supports our professional conduct process. When a complaint moves to a hearing or review, roster members may be appointed to help consider the information, ask thoughtful questions and make a fair decision in the public interest.

Why this work matters

Hearing tribunals and complaint review committees are part of how regulated health professions are held accountable under Alberta’s Health Professions Act. These committees help ensure concerns are reviewed through a process that is fair, transparent and focused on protecting the public.

Dental assistants bring important professional knowledge to this work. Their experience helps tribunals and committees understand dental assisting practice, the expectations of regulated professionals and the impact decisions can have on the public, patients and the profession.

Who should apply

We encourage applications from dental assistants who are thoughtful, objective and committed to serving the public interest. Applicants should be willing to review information carefully, participate respectfully in discussions and make decisions based on the facts and the requirements of the professional conduct process.

You do not need previous tribunal or committee experience to apply. Training and support will be provided to help roster members understand their role.

To be eligible to be appointed to the HT/CRC Roster, you:

  • must be a Registered Dental Assistant
  • must be in good standing and have a valid practice permit
  • must have at least three years of regulated dental assisting practice
  • must live in Alberta

What roster members do

Roster members may be asked to serve on a hearing tribunal or complaint review committee when needed. This may include reviewing written materials, attending meetings or hearings, participating in deliberations and helping prepare decisions.

Time commitments can vary depending on the matter. Members are contacted when an opportunity to serve is available and can confirm their availability at that time.

How to apply

Apply by completing the application form and submitting the required information by the application deadline. The Governance Committee will review applications using a merit-based process and will contact applicants about next steps.

Application deadline: November 30, 2026
