Welcome, Onsy
The Lieutenant Governor in Council appointed Onsy Tawadrous to our Council for a three-year term that began on November 7, 2024. He will serve as a Public Member of Council, representing Albertans and supporting governance and accountability. We extend a warm welcome and are pleased to introduce you to Onsy.
Onsy Tawadrous has a Bachelor of Commerce and spent most of his career in business development, providing visions and initiatives for the corporations he worked with. Currently, Onsy owns a pharmacy in Sylvan Lake. Between his business, real estate and construction, he likes to operate in and support his community.
Volunteering is a big part of Onsy’s life. He serves with the Economic Development Advisory Committee and the Lighthouse Academy in Sylvan Lake. Previously, his volunteer board roles have supported seniors and refugee families.
Onsy’s business background and experience with various boards will be a great addition to our Council.
Public Members
Public members are appointed to our Council by the Alberta Government to bring public perspective to all discussions and decisions. They actively participate in Council meetings while raising the public interest profile. Their role enhances our College’s ability to balance the values and interests of our registrants with those of the public. Since 2004, public members have contributed to our progress and helped advance our College.
Public members are recruited, selected and appointed by the Alberta Government to meet the Health Professions Act requirement that 50% of the voting members of college councils, hearing tribunals and complaint review committees be public members. We currently have four public members appointed to our Council and await one more appointment.
