Earlier this year, we asked our partners in regulation – the public, dental assistant employers, related professionals, educators, other regulators, dental assistants and more – to help shape our next plan. We sincerely thank everyone who shared their valuable time and insight.
Gathering Input
To guide us through a structured strategic planning process, we hired an external facilitator to support Council. Through interviews, focus groups and a survey, our partners offered thoughtful input about where our College is now and how we can continue to improve.
The facilitator analyzed the data, identified themes and provided Council with a thorough report that reflected on key insights from our various partner groups. The report served as the foundation for Council’s recent strategic planning session.
Our Planning Session
Council’s day started by reviewing the core challenges and opportunities identified through partner input. That led to considering the overarching themes and discussing whether and how each theme fits within regulating the dental assisting profession. Next, they spent time brainstorming about our current state, a desired future state and the building blocks we need to get there.
After a robust discussion about building blocks and priorities, our facilitator invited Council to consider either a bold pathway or a safe pathway to achieving their desired future state. They agreed on a balance of bold and safe, then added timing and measurements to their plan.
New Plan Coming Soon
In the coming months, we will be working to put the finishing touches on our new Strategic Plan. We look forward to sharing it with you and putting it into action once Council approves it.
