You may cancel your registration and Practice Permit when you will no longer be practising.
Before you cancel
Before you submit a cancellation request:
- ensure your employment status is up to date in the portal (for example: if your employment status shows you’re employed in the dental field, and you’re retiring, add an end date to your employer record, then add a new employment status record with the start date of your retirement)
- download or print any documents from the portal (for example: receipts, CCP records) that you want copies of as you won’t have access to the portal after your registration is cancelled
- ensure you review the reinstatement requirements, should you choose to reinstate your registration and permit in the future
Apply to cancel
To cancel, use our Cancel Registration application. You’ll find it in our portal at Registration Change Request.
After you cancel
Once you cancel your registration, you’re not authorized to practise dental assisting.
- You are no longer on the Dental Assistant Register.
- You don’t hold a Practice Permit and may not practise.
- You may not use the protected titles Registered Dental Assistant and Dental Assistant.
- You no longer have access to the portal (print or save your receipts and competence records before you cancel).
- Your professional liability insurance coverage may be null and void.
Returning to practice
Before you return to practice or refer to yourself as a dental assistant, you must reinstate your registration and practice permit.
