Alberta’s dental assistants play an important role on your oral health care team, working alongside dentists, dental hygienists, and denturists. The College’s role is to help ensure Albertans receive safe, ethical, and competent dental assisting care.
How we protect the public
We protect the public by regulating the profession of dental assisting in Alberta. This includes registering dental assistants and monitoring their ongoing competence, so Albertans can have confidence in the care they receive.
We set professional and ethical standards that guide dental assistants’ practice, including a Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
When concerns are raised about a dental assistant’s conduct or the quality of care, we investigate and address them through the complaints and discipline processes set out in legislation.
